A private ski lesson means an instructor just for you, your family or your friends. It is the most popular option at Performance Ski School, and also the one that raises the most questions before booking: how much does it cost, how long does it last, who is it for? Here are the answers, plainly.
An instructor just for you
Unlike a group lesson, where you wait your turn in a mixed-level group, every minute of the lesson goes to your progress. The instructor adapts the meeting point, the length and the content to your level, from your very first snowplough to more technical turns. Our instructors are State-qualified and teach both skiing and snowboarding.
A private lesson suits everyone: an adult who wants to improve, a couple, friends, or a whole family with one instructor adapting between levels. It is our speciality: parents rediscovering skiing and children making their first turns, with nobody left behind.
How many people per instructor?
From 1 to 6 people at most per instructor for a private ski lesson. For larger groups (friends, big families, companies), we offer group formats on quotation.
Available durations
You choose the format that suits you:
- 2 hours: a good format for young children or a first taste.
- 3 hours: the classic format to really make progress in a morning or an afternoon.
- Half day and full-day commitment: for those who want to enjoy the slopes with their instructor all day.
You can book a lesson in one go or over several days. Weekly lessons start on Saturday, Sunday or Monday and run through Friday (at least 5 consecutive days). The weekend can also be booked as one-off lessons, one day at a time, with no commitment to the following week.
Prices
Lessons start from €59 per hour, with a rate that decreases with the length. The exact price depends on the format, the duration, the date and the number of participants, and it is displayed in real time during booking, with no unpleasant surprises.
Two things to know:
- The period: during school holidays, surcharges apply (+15% in the medium period, +20% in the high period). They are shown directly in the booking calendar.
- The package: for a half day or a full-day commitment, the price is the same for 1 to 6 people, then +€10 per additional person beyond 6. For a group, it is worth comparing with the hourly rate.
Prices may change: the price shown at the time of booking is the one that applies.
Where does the lesson take place?
You choose. We come and pick you up at your hotel, your apartment, or straight on the slopes, and the meeting point can even change every day. We work in the four sectors of Les Arcs: Arc 1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000.
In which language?
Our instructors teach in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Booking, paying, cancelling
Booking is done online, in a few clicks. You pay a 50% deposit when you book (Visa or Mastercard), then the balance before the first lesson, by card or in cash. You can cancel up to one month before the first lesson: you are then refunded directly on the card used.
I am a beginner: is that a problem?
Not at all. Our lessons adapt to every level, from the very first turn to confident skiers, in skiing as in snowboarding. Not sure what your level is? Our page on slope levels helps you find your bearings, and the instructor assesses your level at the very start of the lesson.
